Legacy of Kain: Fate’s End
Chapter 8

The next image will be of Kain walking around Raziel’s temple, reminiscing about this regret for killing and damning him…and feeding on a wandering Dumahim because he’s thirsty.

Kain: (Thinking) “If I closed my eyes and focused upon the air, I could still sense Raziel’s pristine sense of order.  Not a single waft of errant wind was allowed in the walls.  I dared believed that his soldiers were more fearful of him than me.  There was one Razielhim foolish enough to avoid my command, instead waiting for the consent of his master to fulfill the deed.  The soldier took an impressively long time to die.  From that day forth, I could smell the apathy off of the Razielhim whenever I visited.  If I had done the same to Raziel and his clan as any of my other Generals, searching for survivors would be pointless.  They would survive anything to defy me.
Amon had already swept the area recently, and told how he was preparing for an escapade into old Coorhagen, my mortal home.  The city had rebuilt itself under the guidance of two winged saints practicing unknown sorceries.  The Rahabhim warparty was called off after Amon’s abduction, and would never be recalled by my command.  I alone would seek out the Razielhim.  It was only right that I be the one to exterminate them if necessary.  I owed it to their maker.”

Next image is of Kain walking through a town with hits inhabitants preparing to abandon their homes.  They are immediately fearful of Kain, and someone moves up to speak to him.

Mered: “Are you to harm us as well?  Another illusion to hurt us or our children?”

Kain: “I am no illusion.”

Mered: “Then step aside, traveler, or join us.  To stay here is death.  I am Mered, the mayor of Wasserbunde, and my people will live here no more.”

Kain: “Why ever not?”

Mered: “All paths are blocked by the beast, except the one we take now.  If you seek for the beast, then farewell traveler, for I don’t think we’ll see you ever again.”

The townspeople leave, and the fallen castle of Nurpraptor shows phantoms flying in the sky around it.  The castle’s entrance will be the large skull with one unblocked eye (as in the Soul Reaver game), but the interior will be an unusual mixture of reality and illusions.  To begin with, there will be decrepit hallways on the first floor.  Occasionally, there will be someone chained to the wall, begging for help.  Some will give blood, but others will form into a chained wraith and attack Kain. The second floor up will be a very extravagant mansion filled with art of a Victorian Era nature.  There is a party going on, and a party talking of nonsensical things.  If the Player attacks one fo the people, absolutely nothing will happen as Kain’s claws and trident flows through them.  There will be a chair by the fireplace with someon in it whom a waiter calls Nurpraptor.

Kain: (Thinking) “could Nurpraptor’s ghost still exist?  Though I know he couldn’t be alive, as I removed his head myself, his presence was still a mystery to me.”

Kain turns the chair around to reveal a headless corpse who stands up and attacks Kain.  An easy kill, but what isn’t easy is after the nice ballroom turns into a rundown prison and all the attendants turn into prison-wraiths.  The third floor is a hallway with floor tiles glowing white, red, and green.  To the sides are colored glass windows with an image of a white goat, a green dragon, or a red dog.  Stepping on a floor tile color similar with the nearby stained glass causes spikes to shoot out from the floor.  There are also overly-muscular executioners who attack with large axes, trying to push Kain on the wrong tiles.
The fourth floor will open up to a void.  Upon entering, the door behind disappears.  Suddenly, Kain finds himself in an underground hell with lava flowing from the tops of mountains.  The Chimera lands in front of him; a five-story tall dog with one goat head on each ribcage and a dragon-snake tail.  The Player must is hit the dog head until it goes unconscious, avoid being frozen and knocked back by the goats, and attack the dragon-snake tail without being burned.  ‘Mist Walk’ can be used around the goat heads for a quicker kill.  After the Chimera dies, the room will go back to darkness except for a single glowing red orb.

Kain: (Thinking) “The Ruby Eye, a legendary tool for its ability to create an illusion of its owner.  Apparently, it was last used for Nurpraptor, still reflecting his madness.  I would use this tool for my own needs, though I would keep a close watch on my reflections, watching for signs of inevitable madness.”

The black room then fades away, and Kain finds himself standing in front of Nurpraptor’s Castle.  This time, the skull is upright, sporting a very dim window for the left eye.
