Kain is standing upon the roof of a monastery, overlooking the Drowned Abbey before him.
Kain: (Thinking) “I remembered Rahab’s hatred for the clergy well. It utterly consumed him, causing him to defile and corrupt every holy relic, shrine, and follower. He would talk of nothing else but of their fascism. It never bothered me to listen, for I knew his real vendetta originated from his sense of vanity. Looking over this place of worship, it was as clear as it had always been that Rahab’s greatest sin was jealousy.”
The scenery will be very similar to the area when it was in the Soul Reaver game, at least at first. As Kain moves into the areah, he will see Rahabim.
Kain: (Thinking) “Rahab’s evolution against water was impressive, though he simply traded the water weakness for a lethal light allergy. I had always suspected that his transformation was to hide his striving for godhood from me. Secretly, I encouraged it, for how divinge would I become if my General was worshiped as a god?”
The Rahabim will be simple enough; jumping out of water, spitting water, and swiping with their claws. After a bit of roaming around, the player will find large doors guarded by many Rahabim. Through them will reveal a room decorated with statues, colored windows, and a large painting of Jehoram. He’s like a majestic merman; fish tail below the abdomen, jade scales, three-clawed hands, three horns, and glowing blue tattoos covering his arms and chest.
Kain: (Thinking) “It seemed that Jehoram shared his master’s vices. Yet, Jehoram seemed very benevolent and pristine in the artwork around me. I started to doubt his capacities for war.”
The next four rooms are filled with water on the floor and must be drained before exited. Each room has more religious art of Jehoram and guarding Rahabim (both easy and hard versions to kill). In order to continue, certain statues and other artwork must be destroyed to reveal the draining levers. In the last room, Kain must shift to travel through the large water pipes/halls. Investigation would probably be best as this would be an excellent area for hidden runes.
Once he reaches Jehoram’s worship room, Kain climbs stairs that eventually lead above the water. After shifting into the Material Realm, Kain is in a dome room with a sidewalk around the rim and four columns that end just high enough the water for him to stand upon. This is when Jehoram reveals himself in the middle of the room.
Kain: (Thinking) “His portraits had not lied, for he was definitely sculpted for beauty and beauty alone. Though I suspected he was once a great warrior, centuries of hiding within the Abbey had made him all too aware of mortality. If there was glory in shame, then Jehoram might have been impressive to me.”
Jehoram: “The mighty Absent Grandfather has come to reclaim his flock, but we have no reason to worship a being not nearly as divine as Rahab. Leave this place of worship and beg the Aquatic God for his forgiveness as you go.”
Kain: “Beg for the mercy of my dead General? Has reading cryptic scriptures warped your memories of me? They must have, or otherwise you’d beg for my forgiveness.”
Jehoram: “Blasphemy! You were nothing but a means to bring out true father Rahab into this world. You are nothing but chaotic darkness that cannot help but destroy all within his reach.”
Kain jumps onto a column.
Kain: “Then why don’t I make the reach a little easier.”
Jehoram hastily dives underneath, but still talks to Kain.
Jehoram: “You could not help but create a ghostly assassin to destroy Rahab, for it is in your nature. However, you send yourself to collect me. I must be becoming as divine as the True Father to warrant such wrath.”
Kain: “You will serve me and join my war against the children of Melchiah. Whether you do so dead or alive is your decision.”
Jehoram: (Chuckles) “Dead or alive, I shall always serve Rahab. Prepare for your return to oblivion!”
One of Jehoram’s unique qualities is his trident, which he will use to surprise attack Kain with. As long as the player blocks these attacks in time, there will be a good opportunity for a counter attack. After one-third of Jehoram’s life is gone, he will dive and then bring forth an explosion of water that will greatly harm Kain unless the player jumps onto the ridge around the room. After the explosion, Jehoram will throw his trident at Kain. IF the player dodges fast enough, Kain can throw it back, hitting Jehoram and allowing another counterattack. After another third of Jehoram’s life is gone, two of the columns and many parts of the ridge are smashed by the thrashing of his tail. This makes dodging, retrieving the trident, and counterattacking much more difficult. After all of Jehoram’s life is gone, Kain sticks him with the trident and nails him to the base of one of the columns.
Kain: “Where is your all-mighty Rahab to save you? Perhaps he wishes your martyrdom.”
Jehoram: “No! Please, do not strike again, for I now see your superiority over the Father Rahab. How foolish of me to think I could defeat my Father’s father.”
Kain: “Yes, very foolish indeed.”
Jehoram: “Mercy! I revoke my misguided oaths and submit to your rule. My army is yours to command.”
Kain: (Thinking) “Had I no need for him, he would have died a misguided fool. However, I could see that whatever zealotism he suffered from wouldn’t allow him to lie. Such a simple creature, and a poor excuse for a vampire. I would need many others than him if I was to reclaim my army, but he was a start.”
Kain pulls away the trident.
Kain: “Very well. Your army, as well as your weapon, is mine. My first order of you is to call forth Amon.”
Jehoram: “Please forgive me, but I cannot fulfill this quest. The great Amon, adversary to much of my work, has been captured and taken prisoner.”
Kain: “By whom?”
Jehoram: “The Keepers of the Eternal Prison.”
Kain: (Thinking) “I had not been there for centuries, ever since I destroyed it on my quest to stop the Hylden. The thought of them rebuilding it never bothered me, for I was the only known escapee to do so and survive.” (Speaking) “What of rescue attempts?”
Jehoram: “ All those who’ve gone to rescue the reclusive Amon have never returned.”
Kain: “Then I guess it is I who must return him. Stay here and grovel until my return. I go to collect another of my Cornels.”
Kain leaves the wounded Jehoram and goes off in search of Amon
