The theme of this game will be much more similar to Blood Omen 2 rather than Soul Reaver, as it focuses a lot upon destroying enemies in a gory blood shower.  However, it will retain many of the puzzle-seeking quests found in Soul Reaver as to not become a boring slasher game.  The main difference in this game compared to the others is that Kain will eventually become something akin to what Raziel is: a wraith.  Though this will be explained in more detain later in the game, for now know that he will be able to pass between the realms.
One of the things carried over into this game from the others is Spells.  Like Soul Reaver, Kain will gain more spells and a higher life maximum as he consumes the souls of his foes.  Unlike Soul Reaver, essence to power them will not be randomly located around the game universe.  To retrieve essence, Kain must go into the Spectral Realm and consume souls.  This will fill up his ‘Essence Bar’ (located next to his ‘Life Bar’), and fuel those spells that require energy.  To fill up his ‘Life Bar’, he will need to feed upon the blood of those defeated in the Material Realm.  Know that one cannot fill the other, and that when the ‘Essence Bar’ goes empty (either by casting spells or slowly dissipating over time), Kain will be forced back into the Spectral Realm.  If the ‘Life Bar’ goes empty, Kain dies.
There are two types of Spells in this game: Material and Spectral Realm based.

Material Realm Spells cannot be used in the Spectral Realm, but the Spectral Realm Spells ‘Leap’ and ‘Mind Blast’ can be used in the Material Realm.  Each Spell costs a different amount of Essence, so be mindful of your ‘Essence Bar’.  Using too much magic will force Kain into the Spectral Realm to look for more.
Another thing being carried over into this game is the collection of Weapons.

Weapons

Weapon

Effect

Trident

Jehoram

Wide attack.

Battle Axe

Surren

Strong attack.

Flail

 Sister Diligence

Agile attack.

Vorador’s Sword

Vorador

Combination of all attack bonuses.

These will also be collected by destroying enemies, and you will be able to switch amongst them only in the ‘Kain Menu’.

Something unique that I am bringing to this game is the inclusion of Relics.

Relics

Relic

Effect

Necromancer’s Staff

Morum

Raise and control one corpse.

The Ruby Eye

Chimera

Create illusion of self.

The Blessed War Hammers of Willendorf

The Mason Brothers

Crack open boulder blocked or cracked paths.

Executioner’s Blade

The Rage

Open path through solid walls.

These will help aid Kain in quickly destroying certain enemies as well as provide solutions to in-game puzzles.  Some can be used as a weapon, but they will definitely not replace the use of Kain’s main Weapons.

Something brought forth from LOK: Defiance is the learning of attack moves.

Attack Moves

Effect

#1

Overhead swinging with weapon/claws

#2

#3

Charged attack after a moment’s focus

#4

Fling opponent away

#5

Backwards uppercut

Acquiring these will require that you find hidden pieces of parchment called ‘Runes’ located all over the game universe.  They will help defeat certain enemies quicker, but are not completely necessary.  If you don’t find enough ‘Runes’ to learn all the moves when you need them, then too bad.

As a sort of bonus that is not required in any way to collect, there will be suits of Armor hidden in the game universe just as the ‘Runes’ are.

They will not solve any puzzles or provide unusual protection against certain foes, but they can be useful depending on the situation.  Truthfully, I added this as a way to change Kain’s looks if you get bored with him.

The final key to the game is the enemies.  While there are many minor foes to fight off, I am not going into detail on how to defeat each one.  However, the Main Bosses are as follows.

Remember, defeating each Boss requires certain Weapons, Spells, Artifacts, etc, to do so, and in turn they give things that help defeat future Bosses.  While not every enemy requires that you only use the right tools for the job, they definitely help.  Who knows, if this game were to be created, it would present as an interesting challenge to defeat each Boss without using their Weaknesses against them.

Okay, that’s it for preparing you for reading my game idea.  I hope you enjoy this (very long) format, and please email me any questions you might have at jblasde @yahoo.com (remove the space).  If you simply want to tell me how awesome I am, I already know, but I appreciate reading it from other people from time to time.
