Legacy of Kain: The Lost Prophecy
Chapter V - Raziel and Turel

The Time Streaming device was activated, and through the portal we moved one millenium later. It was that day, when Raziel presented me his surpassed evolution - a pair of wings, and I ordered my other lieutenants to throw him into the abyss - a giant vortex that according to the legend, had no ending. But it had the bottom, and Raziel's presense there was the proof to it. I was waiting then for Raziel to grow wings, so that Raziel would think that the reason why I threw him into the abyss, would be the surpassion of evolution. I needed Raziel to hate me, so that the plan would have worked... Well, it did. All of these event are in my memories now, but I was still thinking about Raziel. These thoughts were torturing me. I wished I could make him back, but I knew I could not. However, I could help him at that moment, even before he helped me. When you return a favor, it usually happens after the things the person did for you, but in my case, where are many time travels, it does not matter.
I heard hard steps walking through the corridor. They were heading directly to my throne, where my younger self of that era was sitting, and waiting for Raziel. Raziel himself was approaching through the corridor, while his other brothers were standing still. The doors opened, and Raziel came in. He knelt before me former self, showing him his large beautiful wings. Everybody were astonished. My former self slowly came towards Raziel, stepped from behind, and with anger and a power relief, broke Raziel wings. Raziel screamed. My former self ordered to grab him and take him in to the Abyss, and Raziel's brother have fulfilled the order...

Me and Janos were waiting near the Abyss, on the lower level of the cliff, from which Raziel would be thrown in a few seconds.
"Be ready", - I told Janos, - "His body must be mortally harmed, but not be destroyed. Can I count on you?", - I asked.
"Sure. I know what to do. Trust me!", - Janos said...
"Cast him in!", - my former selve's order has been heard from above.
Raziel was trying to release himself, but Turel and Dumah were holding him tightly. They threw him down to the vortex. Raziel was trying to move his wings, but could not: my former self had broken them. He screamed, while was rapidly falling down.
"Now!", - I said. Janos casted a projectile - a dark red energy ball towards Raziel. It was too slow, and I reacted as fast as I could. I aimed at the energy ball, and blasted it with the reaver. It pushed the ball, with began falling down even faster than Raziel was. When the energy ball was below Raziel, Janos stopped it with his telepathic powers, and moved under Raziel. Raziel was caught into it. The ball was going down with him inside, protecting him from the water. However, that energy ball was not strong enough to hold on through all the falling into the water, and it began to crack. The further it went down - the weaker the ball was. Raziel's skin began to burn. When he reached the ground, he was totally burnt and destroyed. He was all blue. Half of his face had vanished. Raziel was dead.
Me and Janos used the same thing, but this time Janos had made the energy ball much stronger, so that it could hold us under the water. We finally reached Raziel... or what had left of him. And we also surprised to see, that there was no water down there. We were falling for so long time, so it looked like we have reached the center of the world itself. I looked at Raziel's corpse, confused. I did not know what to do.
"Use the sword, Kain. If he should be awaken this time as the Soul Reaver, then the blade's energy would restore him to life", - Janos told me. I liked his idea, and slightly touched Raziel's face with the Balanse Reaver. The energy was flowing through his body. I knew what it could mean. His soul was twinned between the reaver and the corpse. IT was both outside and inside the reaver blade...
As I expected, a growing sense of vertigo and displacement surrounded me and Janos, as we were standing near Raziel's corpse. By trying to awaken Raziel, I led to that paradoxical moment... again. But this time, I was not intended to change anything. I knew, that when Raziel would awaken, I must stop at once, before it was too late. Who knows what could be the results.
"Surrender Kain. Now you know my true nature, and what I possess, that you do not", - I heard a deeply familiar voice. We were exactly at the place, where Raziel first met the Elder God.
"Surrender? Why? I am winning. I am just playing my role in all this conflist, and my role is to restore Balanse and kill you. Have you got any others cards in your hands, because manipulation does not work anymore. You are exposed to me, and I have the weapon to destroy you", - I said.
"With that weapon you can see me, but you can barely hard me, just as an insect harms when it bytes. And you have the enchanter to your weapon, without the knowledge of how to use. Ha! You are still pathetic. Do you not understand that you are still being manipulated? Your small victory was just a set back for me. Very soon I will come to my plan B, when all your world will be consumed in one day, Kain!", - the Elder God said, enjoying every word.
"I will be waiting for you! And as I told you before - you should burrow deep", - I said.
Raziel began to show signs of life. I pulled the reaver away from him, and together with Janos teleported away. The last thing I could see, was as Raziel got up, starting cursing his new image of self, and talking to the Elder God, that was still carrying out his plans with Raziel. He had the Free Will, but did not use it to change his purgatorial cycle. Perhaps he knew what he was doing? Maybe I should not be that sure, that I have had the upper hand on him? It all started troubling me. Maybe I should have used the paradoxing moment to change something? What if I have just missed a good opportunity, and mislead again by the "Prime Mover"? I felt myself an idiot.

Me and Janos reached the Sarathan Stronghold, preparing to leave this era. I needed to talk with The Seer, of how to use the Nexus Stone along with the reaver, when the stone's function was to disable the reaver blade. But The Seer did not come to me. Instead, we have heard different steps. We were in the round hall, where two millenias ago, I had saved Raziel from being consumed by the reaver. Me and Janos hid upstairs, behind the columns on the second floor. I saw five vampires coming in. These were Turel, Dumah, Rahab, Zephon and Melchiah. What were they doing? Why have they gathered in the hall? Were they making a council? As I understood, they were. And without their master. I realized that I was not mistaken when I made Raziel kill his brothers: my fears were true - the five of them were planning to kill me, and take the empire for themselves. But how is that I did not know about them? Why did not they try?... I felt as if I was going to reveal something new in that drama before it unfolds...
"I have gathered all of you here, my brothers, to express you all how disappointed I am of Kain and our empire", - started Turel, - "And I know you all agree with me. Kain holds us in his arms, and does not give us even the freedom of feeding. He holds us, giving us only the portions of humans we need to feed on. But we were not born to this world just to "exist". I say, we need freedom. Freedom of evolution, freedom of food. I say, it is enough to spare the humans. Their race must be entirely destroyed. They are our food, not another race to live with us in this world. The strongest should survive, and the weak would perish".
"We all agree with that, Turel. I was thinking of that for centuries", - said Dumah, - "We do not have to obbey Kain. We must kill him. His power is kept in his Soul Reaver. When we succeed to separate him from it, we prevail".
"The old man has gone entirely mad. All the time he was giving the best for his firstborn, Raziel, who has become his little puppy. However Kain himself killed him for surpassing him with evolution. Just imagine what he can do to us, if we fail", - Zephon said.
"I never liked Raziel, but now I am getting sorry for him. But it does no matter. I say we should not attack Kain ourselves. Let us send our clans on him, so that nobody of us would be killed. Kain is very strong with his reaver blade, but he won't be able to find hunderds of vampires", - said Rahab.
"What if he teleports away? None of us can do something like that", - Melchiah worried...
Suddenly thier conversation was interrupted by steps, that they had heard from William's Chappel. "Leave! All of you! I'll hadle it", - said Turel.
The door has opened, but it was not my former self, as they expected to see. It was a bold woman with purple dress. I did not recognize her for the first time, but she looked familiar to me. I had to dig in my memories, and finally I remembered. That woman was Azimuth, the Guardian of Dimension. She was one of the depraved Guardians I had to kill, in order to restore the Circle of Nine. I remembered how I had confronted her in Avernus, just a few minutes before I saw the Soul Reaver for the first time.
She came towards Turel. The other vampire lieutenants had fled. Turel reactivly drew out his sword.
"I am not here to fight you, Turel. On the contrary, I want to help you. You are very brave, dutiful, strong. Just as our Circle need as ally", - said Azimuth.
"Who are you? How do you know my name?", - Turel looked frightened.
"I am Azimuth, the Guardian of Dimension. I have stolen the Time Streaming device from Moebius the Time Streamer. We are creating a new world... in the past. And I offer you to come with me. I will give you power, blood and freedom you seek, Turel", - said the Guardian.
"So you have come from the past, when the Nine Guardians were affected by a corruption, and started toturing the entire world? And why do you need me?", - asked Turel, - "And why are you so sure that I will accept it?".
"I know you will. We need some kind of a Demigod, so that the humans would offer him Blood sacrifice. You will not need to hunt anymore, the blood will come to you. We have created a brainwashing society...", - Azimuth expained, - "Secondly, you will become much stronger - we have the powers for it. Thirdly, you will obbey no one. What can be better?".
"It sounds... too good to be true", - Turel hesitated.
"If you have learnt history, Turel, you should know that at that time, the world was full of humans - even more than vampires. Much more... And the Guardians had a great power. Even if I cannot be trusted, we both know that those times were much better. I know that all of us, the Guardians, are going to die in our era from Kain's hands, but we can prevent it. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity, Turel. Sieze it!", - Azimuth was really convincing.
"And what about this era. What would my brothers and Kain think, when I will be gone?", - asked Turel.
"You do not really care about them. Kain is a looser, a failing leader. His empire is ruining and corrupting itself from inside. I know, you do not want to be around, when it all goes down. You want some more for yourself, and I understand your position. You hate to serve somebody. You want to rule, to bring people to their knees. I can help you with that. We need you to settle chaos in the world of the past", - said Azimuth.
"You wanna use me? I do not wanna be a pawn", - said Turel.
"You are a pawn now. And you will not turn to be the one who pulls the strings. However you will have more choises, more freedom. You will get whatever you want, and the limits will be really far for you. All we need, is you to become a hungry Demigod, to which people will go to offer their blood", - Azimuth finished.
"Then, I agree. But first, I must talk to my brothers", - said Turel.
"There is no need in them. You will go alone. The Circle has chosen you, not them. They are not capable enough", - said the Guardian.
Turel summoned his best servant to him.
"What is your command, Master?", - the servant asked.
"I am going away, Morlock. Forever. Tell my brothers and Lord Kain that I was killed. Replace me. From now on, you are the leader of the Turelim Clan. Was I understood?", - Turel asked him.
"Yes, master", - the happy shocked servant ran away. I wondered how stupid was from Turel to leave his clan in the hands of that dummy... But perhaps, for Turel, loyalty was above smartiness. Even if he was going to betray his brothers. But that was an opportunity of once in a lifetime, so he did not think much of it.
Turel went with Azimuth to the Chronoplast Chamber, while the other lieutenants returned to the hall and saw them. Azimuth summoned some insectoid broods, as she did in her timeline, at the Dark Eden. Dumah, Rahab, Zephon and Melchiah annihilated them all, but it took some time. Turel and Azimuth had already left... to the past. The other lieutenants did not know where and when they both went, and had no idea how to use the Chronoplast. It was allowed only for my former self to know, at that time. So they all left the place. It looked like all of their plans were shattered into pieces. Without Turel, they could not organize anything. So they were not rebelling gainst me until Raziel has killed them all.
Me and Janos had nothing else to do in this era. We left the hall and moved to the Chronoplast Chamber. There, near the Time Streaming Device, the Seer was already waiting for us...
